From 1st November 2026, children aged 3 will be able to access a Medicare Healthy Kids Check at HGP.
The service will support GPs to assess the child’s physical, social and emotional development, health and wellbeing. This assessment will identify children who may require additional supports, including monitoring and interventions in primary care settings, referral to appropriate supports (including Thriving Kids supports) or further assessment when required.
The doctors at HGP will provide this service with bulk billing with no out of pocket costs for medicare eligible children.
Your child will spend some time in the assessment with our practice nurses Jodie, Fran, Kyah or Alex, and then be assessed by your regular GP. Please allow 45 to 60 minutes for this assessment.
The service is available for children aged 3 to the day before they turn 4, for one assessment. Please contact reception and request a “3 year old health check for booking.
