- New telehealth services providing GP consultations over the phone has been approved by medicare and are now available. These appointments allow patients to consult with their GPs over the phone to decrease their risk of infection in the waiting room. Consultations for patients meeting medicare criteria (as listed below) will be bulk billed. For patients who don’t meet the medicare criteria but would prefer a phone consultation instead of a face to face appointment an out of pocket fee will apply. Please note that depending on the nature of the medical matter a physical appointment at the clinic at a later date may be required. You must be a patient of our clinic for this service.
Criteria for bulk billed telehealth consultations are as follows :
- · Commonwealth concession card holders
· children under 16 years old
· patients who are more vulnerable to COVID-19 :
a. is required to self-isolate or self-quarantine in accordance with guidance issued by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee in relation to COVID-19; or
b. is at least 70 years old; or
c. if the person identifies as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent-is at least 50 years old; or
d. is pregnant; or
e. is the parent of a child aged under 12 months; or
f. is being treated for a chronic health condition; or
g. is immune compromised; or
h. meets the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection.
If you would like to book for one of these appointments, the receptionist will give you an appointment time and the doctor will ring you for the consultation as close to that time as possible.
